Los alcaldes de Baruta, El Hatillo, Chacao y Los Salias, municipios del estado Miranda, rechazaron las pretensiones, de la administración de Nicolás Maduro, de adherir estas localidades al Distrito Metropolitano de Caracas.

Darwin González, dirigente político y vocero de la Asociación de Alcaldes por Venezuela, indicó que «personas adeptas al Gobierno, nos contactaron preocupados por que se extrapole la experiencia negativa de calidad de vida del municipio Libertador, a nuestros municipios».

Por su parte, Elías Sayegh, alcalde del municipio El Hatillo, señaló que esta presunta adhesión «pareciera que obedece a una necesidad de coordinación de políticas públicas (…) Pero la misma fue acabada por el Ejecutivo cuando eliminó la Alcaldía Metropolitana».

El pasado lunes, la jefa de Gobierno del Distrito Capital, Jacqueline Farías, asomó, en una entrevista a VTV, la posibilidad de una incorporación de esos cuatro municipios mirandinos al Distrito Capital.
