Julio Borges: Nicolas Maduro, don’t be afraid of votes, it’s in the Constitution

Caracas, April 19 2017 – The President of the National Assembly and coordinator of Primero Justicia party, Julio Borges, declared during the peaceful protest that is taking place this Wednesday: “Nicolas Maduro, don’t be afraid of votes, it’s in the Constitution and it’s the people’s right to express themselves.” “April 19 is the best day to claim respect of the Constitution of Venezuela. The people only want peace, and the way to materialize that is by allowing them to vote, respecting the Constitution and human rights. Maduro has to understand that he country isn’t his, it belongs to all Venezuelans.”

The leader of parliament emphasized that the opposition coalition MUD doesn’t want a coup, that it rejects it categorically, and reminded that today Venezuelans are precisely protesting against the coup that the Supreme Tribunal gave the National Assembly, and to demand elections.

“The Zamora Plan is the worst answer, the people are not the enemy, don’t be afraid of the people. We will remain in the streets, protesting peacefully but firmly until there are elections and the Constitution is respected. Listen to the message that the entire country is sending you today, peacefully, on the streets, and remember that the best dialogue is the one the people exercise through their vote.”

The protest began in 26 different points around Caracas, where Primero Justicia’s members of Parliament and MUD leaders, followed by party members and the people, are demanding the Ombudstman Tarek William Saab to side with the Constitution and reject the coup perpetrated by the Supreme Tribunal.
