Eastern Part of the Country Repressed by Tear Gas Bombs

Officials of the National Police (PNB) and the National Guard (GNB) charged against the protesters who marched in the eastern part of the country, during convocation from the opposition called “the mother of all marches”. Tear gas pumps were thrown by police forces to Venezuelan citizens who were protesting in Nueva Esparta, between Avenue Bolívar and Avenue Auyama, at the statue of ex-president Hugo Chávez. During the repression, two people were hurt in the head due to impact from blunt objects. Military groups also resorted to tear gas pumps in Puerto Ordaz, in the state of Bolívar, according to a witness at the scene, who also informed that the protest had high attendance, filling at least four blocks of the city.

The GNB tried to prevent protesters from accesing the Monumental Plaza, from the Altavista sector, but a group of people were able to pass the security measures. The protest ended in the afternoon, but some citizens refuse to leave.

Sources from the account of Juventudes de Voluntad Popular informed that National Guard officials charged against protesters in the center of Maturín using tear gas pumps. Motorized collectives identifying with “chavismo” joined the officials in the charge against the protesters, according to the Unidad account on Twitter. At least 4 journalists and one photographer were affected by the tear gases thrown by the police force, informed the National Labor Union of the Press (Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de la Prensa) on twitter.
